Equipment

  • Large Pot (For cooking the orange slices.)
  • Air Fryer (You can also use an oven, but it will take much longer.)
  • Cooling rack

Ingredients

  • 4 Large oranges Try to use oranges with thinner peels
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 8 oz White chocolate chips The sweetness of white or milk chocolates complements the tartness of oranges wonderfully. If you prefer a healthier option, feel free to use dark chocolates.

Instructions

  • Wash and dry 4 oranges. Cut about ½ inch off the top and bottom of the oranges. Slice the rest part of the oranges into ⅛-inch-thick slices.
  • In a large pot, add 1 cup of sugar and 2 cups of water. Bring it to a boil, stir until the sugar is melted.
  • Add the orange slices into the pot, simmer them over medium low heat for about 20 minutes. Remove them from the pot, pat them dry with kitchen paper, and arrange them on a baking rack.
  • Air fry the orange slices at 212°F (100°C) for approximately 30 minutes, making sure to check and flip them every 10 minutes until they become completely dry. Or bake at 175°F for 5 hours. They will turn crispier as they cool.
  • Place white chocolate chips in a cup and nestle the cup in hot water. Stir the chocolate chips until they melt.
  • Submerge one side of an orange slice in the melted chocolate, and carefully shake the dipped orange chocolate chip over the cup to allow any excess chocolate to drip back into the cup.
  • Place the orange slices on a cooling rack with the chocolate side facing upward. Allow them to rest at room temperature (or in the fridge during summertime) for about 1 hour or until the chocolate solidifies.
  • Store them in an airtight container in the fridge. They can stay good for up to 2 weeks.
